Shayla "Birdy" Browning

Birdy’s love of vintage culture and tropical escapism has shaped much of her life. A longtime advocate for these communities, she has spent years organizing and hosting pinup events that celebrate creativity, camaraderie, and nostalgia.

Her passion for tiki culture extends well beyond the event space. Her home tiki bar, Hale Birdy, is her personal slice of paradise where tiki mugs, bamboo, fishing floats, vintage treasures, and island-inspired art come together to create everyday escapism. She is one of the original members of the MOKANtiki community and was featured in the promotional video celebrating the grand opening of Kansas City's beloved TikiCat.

 

By day, Birdy works in architectural project administration, where nearly two decades of experience have honed her skills in organization, planning, and keeping even the most complicated projects running smoothly. She is thrilled to bring her love of vintage culture, tropical escapism, and community-building—along with the behind-the-scenes coordination that turns big ideas into unforgettable experiences—to the Lei Away team.
